(Formerly the NCAA Clearinghouse)

The NCAA Clearinghouse, now known as the NCAA Eligibility Center, plays a vital role in determining the eligibility of student-athletes to participate in college-level sports in the United States.

To determine NCAA eligibility, prospective student athletes need to understand the academic and amateurism requirements set by the NCAA. It is the responsibility of the student athlete and their families to be aware of these requirements and ensure they meet them with the assistance of their high school guidance counsellor and school administrators.

For a streamlined process, the NCAA provides a user-friendly website where student athletes can register with the NCAA Eligibility Center. During registration, it is essential to have a valid email address and, if creating a Certification Account, a method of payment for the account.

The NCAA Eligibility Center reviews High School Transcripts, SAT/ACT test scores and provide answers to the amateurism questionnaire to determine eligibility. Student athletes may also be required to provide additional information regarding their high school classes or athletic competition in rare cases.

The NCAA Eligibility Center process consists of three phases:

1. Creating a Certification Account: This should be done during the student athlete's freshman or sophomore year of high school.

2. Ensuring up-to-date transcripts after junior year: Prospective D1 athletes must complete 10 core courses before the start of their final semester of high school, with a minimum of seven courses in English, Mathematics and Natural or Physical Science.

3. Sending final transcripts and requesting final amateurism certification: After completing high school, student athletes must send their final transcripts and request final amateurism certification.

It is important to note that the process may vary for certain circumstances, such as early enrollment or transitioning from junior college. In such cases, the recruiting college will typically provide guidance and assistance.

Contacting the NCAA Eligibility Center can be done through their toll-free phone number or by mail, using the address they provide. Customer service is available during specific hours on weekdays.

International students can refer to the NCAA Eligibility Center's International Resources for specific information on eligibility requirements.
